Like many music lovers around the world, Kristin Amarie and David Lanz love the music of Bach and as such were inspired to create an original lyric to Bach's Air on the G String.
It is somewhat common knowledge that the classic pop song, A WHITER SHADE OF PALE, by Procol Harum, was loosely inspired by Bach's Air. This led the Lanz' to contact their friend and fellow keyboardist, Matthew Fisher, he being the original Procol Harum organist and one of the song's composers. A more perfect musician to add to their recording, they could not imagine!
The arranger, Emmy winning, Kurt Bestor, created a gorgeous orchestral arrangement, and fine tuned the structure of the piece adding a dramatic modulation which was the perfect set up for the epic electric guitar solo by Michael Dowdle.
Adding to the classical tapestry of AIR, is the Danish acoustic guitar master, Lars Hannibal.
Lanz and Amarie's new take on "AIR", is proof of the enduring legacy that the music of Bach still offers to the contemporary music lover!
